To what extent can there be a coordinated international effort to promote development

To what extent can there be a coordinated international effort to promote development or is development something that must occur from within? What role should the US, the UN and the World Bank/IMF play in it?
Be sure to use the theories presented in the course (and cite authors) as the basis of your answer.

1. Knowledge of the subject material including references to authors and theories (50%): I cant emphasize how important it is that you not only know the facts involved in the international issues but the theories and authors that have previously dealt

with them.
2. Analytical skills, comprehension and insight (50%): Here I am looking for reasoned answers to the question. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of answering the question as it is posed, and answering every part fully and explicitly.
