1 Introduction(150- 200words)
- Give the reader some background information into your topic
- Use formal language , no abbreviations or personal pronouns
- Use at least two references for the information that you are using;how do we know anything about this topic area?
- state the reason for this stuidy
- state your aims; you have written your aims on the comparison worksheet that has been given to you (it had two columns;one for the original study you have chosen and your own)
- List your hypotheses here
2 Literature Review(300words)
- The main study that you have chosen wiil be in this section along with 2 other studies
-On the comparison worksheet you identified the methods,the findings and the limitations of this study , you need to write about them here.
-Were the techniques used good or were there any limitation?
-Remember to criticise!
-Find any similarities between the studies
-Refer to other simple literature reviews to see the structure
-Regardless of what other researchers have found , they have not sampled international student at EF; therefore what you find may not be the same as the previous studies
- There is always scope for maore understanding of a particular topic area.
3 Methods( 500 - 600 words)
-Introduce the original study that is the basis of your own design.
- State the author and the information about what they did and how they did it( this is on the comparison worksheet).
- You have to say if your methods are similar to theirs.
- Write in PAST TENSE
- If they are not similar to theirs you need to explain how YOU ADAPTED it so that it could be carried out in EF.
- Why was it important to change the design ?
- What were the reasons you had for this ?
- you did a lot of work on designing your project and you need to list all the ways you went about it.
- What methods did you use ? Qualitative, Quantitative or mixed? Why did you use this form?
- Were your questions close-ended or open-ended? Why did you use this form?
- How did you get participants?( HOW OLD AND WHO ARE THEY)
- Did you ensure confidentiality and anonymity?
- Did you need specific people?
- How long did surveys take ?
- What materials were required?( LIST THEM)
- Did you have to alter anything after staring ? For example if you found that some of your questions didn't make sense or you had to change the time limit for completing questionnaires.
- All of this information should be on your research design worksheets.
4 Result(250 words)
- you now have completed counting
- check the worksheet on "Analysing your results" , all the information about presenting your results are here .
- Remember we need percentages, charts with titles and explanations about the charts that you present.
- Here you refer to your hypotheses anb state whether they have been accepted or rejected.
5 Discussion (250- 300 words)
- Now you get to discuss yoru results
- WHY do you think you found what you did?
- Did you find something you didn't expect ?
- Could differeces be because of gender , nationality or age ?
- Try to interpret your results, this means you really have to understand them.
- If you dont understand them is this because people did not answer correctly i.e. they missed question or said their religion was Jedi-this obviously has consequences for your results.
- Use the "Looking back at your " workshhet : use the answers to these questions in order to make a more comprehensive discussion by identifying your own limitations and flaws(if any)
