3. Create a thesis statement as if you were writing an essay analyzing this work using the formalist method. Remember, a thesis statement is composed of three elements: a topic (the work and author) + a claim (your insight about the work) + points of support (the literary devices you'll be discussing to support your claim).
4. Create a topic sentence for your first body paragraph/point of support. Remember, a topic sentence must do two things: reference your claim and identify a point of support.
