PARTS OF A PARAGRAPH
Character description
The character can be people, animals, or things. In their description you had to tell where they come from or give enough information for the reader to let know what is his or her description.
A character description may include: name, profession, description. and others.
That character can be plain, smooth. A character can have different qualities.
Tone
The tone is related to is the voice. The tone is integral to meaning. It permeates writing and reflects your attitude toward yourself, your purpose, your subject, and your readers. In everyday conversation, vocal inflections, facial expressions, and body gestures help convey here.
Theme
Theme is a word’s controlling idea, the main issue the work address (loyalty to an individual versus loyalty to a cause; the destructive power of a lie). Most literary analyses deal with theme, even if the analysis focuses on the methods by which that theme is conveyed.
Author’s purpose
What is the author’s purpose in contributing to the reasons of the story? The author gives his/her value to the characters. The author’s purpose can be expressed in the story’s conversations, in a trait of character of character, etc.
Value
The good impressions that show the character.
Critical thinking
These are the thoughts that are born based on the thoughts of the texts; also what happened all around.
Now, you have a simple picture of character, tone, theme, author’s purpose, value, and critical thinking. It’s your turn now to:
1. look for a paragraph (it has a topic sentence)
2. It has character, tone, theme, author’s purpose, value, and critical thinking.
3. You will identify each one of those, explain why the author’s write them, and
4. add two definitions for each one of them.
5. Turn them in.
