Objective 4: Explore the core foundations of communicating with a client. The goal of this activity is to demonstrate the main facets of effective communication. Counseling others should always have the goal to help them no matter what challenges they are facing and coming in for. However, to truly help, one must be effective at interviewing. Within any interview you will find there are key characteristics that are necessary for effective communication. We must not only hear our clients, but be able to truly listen and notice any and all unspoken forms of communication. We must also relate, in our own voices and non-verbal communication, that we are truly there for them and listening, hearing, and caring about what they have to say.
