Writing Assignments
These short writings are expected to be in your words or paraphasing of other resources. The use of direct phrases and sentences from resources, even with quotes, is discouraged. Both short writings can be in one document. When saving, use your last name at the beginning of the file name.
Remember to use the written paper guidelines: Name, course, and date. Use 1" margins, double spacing, font size 12 and preferably a sans-serif font, such as Arial, Tahoma, or Verdana. Apply the 4-C's of writing: Correct, complete, clear, and concise.
Chapter 2 Closing Case Study Two "The Business of Social Media and Making the ROI Case." (Pg 60) Find the assignment details in Week 3 of Content. Include references used, if any. Study the case and write your responses to questions 1 through 3. (Possible 10 points)
Chapter 3 Short-Answer Questions. Complete questions 1 through 6, (Pg. 92) and answer either Discussion question 4 or 5 on Pg 94. Write a thorough answer, but be concise. Lengthy explanations are usually not best. (Possible 10 points)
Correct answer, but not thorough: Online analytical processing (OLAP) is the manipulation of information to support decision making.
Correct, thorough answer: OLAP is the processing of data and information stored in data warehouses and data marts to support decision making.
(OLAP is processing done only on data warehouses and data marts; not on transaction databases.)
Search the Web to see what articles or definitions that you can find about the questions. I like the Haag textbook, but some sections on databases is weak.
