Analyzing a Character from graphic novel and movie, Watchmen
Assignment for Paper 3
Essay Assignment #3: Research Essay
Suggested length: 6-8 pages
Purpose:
To focus on a number of research methodologies in addressing a complex question about what superheroes are. To present ideas with a unified thesis and specifics that support one's argument.
3) Pick one of the characters from Watchmen and do a close analysis of who he or she is. Consider the philosophical underpinnings of his or her beliefs, the influence of other superheroes in Alan Moore's creation of him or her, how all of this plays out in the graphic novel, etc.
Requirements:
The requirements for this assignment are in place because I think they are a good way to make sure that you will write the best paper possible. Thus, I m going to require that you have a total of eight sources in addition to your narrative(s) and that at least three be essays from books or academic journals. But again, do whatever is useful. If your topic has a historical component, then some of your research will have to be historical. If your topic is highly philosophical, then you ll need to read some philosophy.
