In this assignment, you will demonstrate your ability to assess the affect of marketing strategies on creating, building, and maintaining organizational credibility, creating credibility for human resources management, and enabling change. The focus of your responsibilities deals directly with advertising.
Scenario
Recall from the project description:
You are the HR Director of a medium-size, private college that has received a major endowment"?olarge enough to change everything about its operating paradigm. The school has received a gift of five billion dollars allowing it to expand its student population, curriculum, physical plant, sports programs, and financial aid. The impact of the gift on the school is of such a magnitude that it will radically change the organization's capacity to serve different constituencies and require an accelerated expansion of its employee population.
The school is planning to expand the size and scope of its undergraduate information technology and business program offerings that will require additional instructors and will establish a men's football team and a women's softball team. It is also planning to build a new football stadium and new softball field with a large bleacher area and a field house. The following staff are needed: three master's level information technology instructors, a men's football coaching staff with one head coach and three assistant coaches, a head coach and three assistant coaches for women's softball team, a facilities maintenance manager, and a financial aid staff of four"??a deputy director and three associates.
As HR Director, your task is to use marketing strategies to support HR responsibilities in advertising and recruiting professionals to fill the roles created by the expansion of the undergraduate information technology and business program offerings, the establishment of a men's football team and a women's softball team, and building new sports facilities.
As you develop your marketing strategies in terms of recruitment, you should also consider employee retention in the organization, and what concurrent activities can be pursued along with this period of organizational growth.
Also consider how marketing strategies can contribute to the credibility of the HR department within the organization.
