Do you agree with Rubins argument? Why or why not?
Run a quick Google search on the author, Lillian B. Rubin: Does she seem like a credible source? Why or why not?
On pg. 194, Rubin asks one of her subjects: When your ancestors came here [to the U.S.], people also thought we were allowing too many foreigners into the country. Yet those earlier immigrants were successfully integrated into the American society. Whats different now? How would YOU respond to this if asked by Rubin?
What rhetorical appeals do you see at play? Give examples:
Ethos
Pathos
Logos
As of right now, what is your definition of
Race?
Ethnicity?
Nationality?
