1) Name at least one instance of symbolism that you have encountered in the reading up to this point, and explain what it is a symbol of and what it means to you as a reader (be sure to cite page numbers from the novel in your explanations).
2) Name at least one instance of foreshadowing, and use the same method for explaining the instance of foreshadowing that you used in question #1.
3) In no less than one paragraph, explain (from your perspective as a reader) who Kurtz is, and why he is (or will be significant) to the plot. For example, what does he represent?
4) In no less than one paragraph, explain Marlows relationship to Kurtz that you as a reader can determine from the plot thus far. For example, why is it significant that we only have begun to know Kurtz through Marlows stories? What does that perspective do to our current (e.g. early in the novel) understanding of Kurtz?
5) After you post your individual response to these four activities/questions, select two questions from one of your peers posts, and respond. Do more than simply agree or disagree. You should ask questions of his or her interpretation of the text, and/or politely challenge his or her interpretation.
