Title : Environmental analysis (Individual assignment )

For this assignment you are required to write an essay on the attractiveness of the ‘country clothing and outdoor wear’ sector as a possibility for a new business

You essay must address the following :

A) an environmental analysis for the sector

AND

B) having conducted the environmental and examined the market structure and dominant competitive position , if any, comment on the attractiveness of this sector for any new business to enter .

Assignment guidelines :

To successfully complete this task you would be expected to apply suitable models and frameworks to study the external environment and conduct an appropriate Industry structure analysis. This would imply use of the

‘3 environments’ model , the PESTEL framework and focussing on the emerging threats and opportunities to businesses in that sector. You are also expected to examine the effects and changes as a result of conducting an industry/ sector structure analysis applying Porter’s 5 force framework and comment on the market structure of the industry/ sector chosen. Attractiveness of the sector must be clearly addressed.

This assignment covers the following Learning outcomes :

• Identify and discuss the ways in which the business environment impacts on the operation of an organisation identifying the increased importance in this process of international factors.

• Present arguments and formulate judgements regarding the factors that influence the dynamic and competitive global environment in which businesses function.

• Examine the role of markets and competition in the decision making of firms.

Presentation of Work

You are expected to follow a clear structure with appropriate headings to identify relevant sections . There should also be a clear Conclusions section .
