After watching the Episode 1 Around the Globe presentation and reading about Germany in your Global Sociology text, think about the social forces that contributed to Reiners view of Germany. How and why are they different from his mother's? Now imagine that you grew up in Germany during the Holocaust, or in Europe during World War Two. How would these social forces affect you? What if you lived in the American South during Jim Crow segregation or during the Great Depression? How would this have affected the choices you made in your life?
