Tuberculosis (TB) is an infection in humans caused by bacteria (Mycobacterium tuberculosis) that is transmitted via the exchange of air from an infected individual through coughing, sneezing, shouting, or singing (Bynum 2012). There are two types of TB, pulmonary and extrapulmonary, but it is the former that is more common. Few infectious diseases are as deadly as TB.
