Literacy Narrative

In keeping with the focus of our course, each student will compose an essay of five pages in which she or he explores how he or she became literate in the discourses of illness, wellness, and medicine. This assignment asks you to do three things: to narrate in specific, concrete detail the memory of an experience that altered your awareness of states of sickness; to explain how this experience contributed to a kind of medical literacy; to speculate on how gender(female) affected this experience.
This paper should be written from the viewpoint of someone in the nursing profession.
